Sébastien Ogier / Vincent Landais triumphed at the 50th Rally Islas Canarias – Rally of Spain, after one of the closest battles for victory in the event’s recent history. Their main rivals, Oliver Solberg / Elliott Edmondson, gave it their all until, on the second run through the ‘Ingenio – Valsequillo’ stage (SS17), they suffered a crash that took them out of the race.
Up until that moment, the duel had been sensational, spanning 17 stages with minimal gaps between them. Nine-time WRC champion Sébastien Ogier etched his name in gold on this special page of the Rally Islas Canarias – Rally of Spain, emerging victorious in his first appearance in front of the island’s home crowd.
The second step on the podium ultimately went to Elfyn Evans / Scott Martin, winners of the Wolf Power Stage, held this year in ‘Santa Lucía – Agüimes’ (SS18). The Welsh driver finished 19.9 seconds behind the winners, earning valuable points that put him back in the lead of the overall standings.
The final step on the Agüimes podium was claimed by Sami Pajari / Marko Salimen, who edged out their teammates Takamoto Katsuta / Aaron Johnston, the WRC leaders heading into this fifth round of 2026.
The top five was completed by the first Hyundai Shell Mobis WRT team, Adrien Fourmaux / Alexandre Coria. Thierry Neuville / Martijn Wydaeghe and Dani Sordo / Cándido Carrera (hampered by a puncture this morning) finished in sixth and seventh place respectively.
In WRC2, Yohan Rossel / Arnaud Dunand took the victory for the second consecutive year. Alejandro Cachón / Borja Rozada finished second and third, retaining their 2025 win in the WRC2 Challenger category.
Enrique Cruz / Yeray Mujica were the highest-placed local competitors at the 50th Rally Islas Canarias – Rally of Spain, making their debut with a ninth-place finish in the WRC2 category.
Gil Membrado / Adrián Pérez secured their first WRC (World Rally Championship) victory in their debut appearance on the Canary Islands stages, where they won in the WRC3 category.
