The organisers of the Rally Islas Canarias – Rally of Spain were received by the Commanding Officer of the Las Palmas Command, Mr Javier Peña de Haro, at an official reception that included a technical meeting with representatives from SEPRONA and USECIC. The official FIA reports have acknowledged the work of the security forces deployed at the event, with a special mention for the Civil Guard.
The organisers of the 50th Rally Islas Canarias – Rally of Spain wish to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Civil Guard for the extensive security operation deployed during the event, whose work was instrumental in ensuring the operational success and safety of spectators, teams and participants throughout the four days of competition.
As this is a round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), attracting an international field of drivers, specialist press and thousands of fans travelling to the special stages, coordination with the Civil Guard has enabled us to successfully manage an event of the utmost complexity in terms of logistics and public safety.
Official reception at the Las Palmas Command Headquarters
This gratitude was expressed at a reception hosted by the Commanding Officer of the Civil Guard Command in Las Palmas, Mr Javier Peña de Haro, during which the organisers of the Rally Islas Canarias – Rally of Spain also had the opportunity to hold a technical debriefing meeting with Captain Germán García, head of SEPRONA (Nature Protection Service), and Lieutenant Carlos Galiana, of the USECIC (Public Safety Unit of the Command). During this meeting, the conduct of the operation during the competition days was analysed and views were exchanged with a view to future editions of the event.
A comprehensive ground and air operation
The Civil Guard operation organised for the Rally Islas Canarias – Rally of Spain mobilised specialist units both on the ground and in the air, ensuring the safety of the timed stages, the protection of spectators in the natural environments through which the race passed, and comprehensive surveillance of the event throughout its four days.
Explicit recognition in the FIA reports
The work carried out by the law enforcement agencies during the Rally Islas Canarias – Rally of Spain has been explicitly recognised in the FIA’s official reports on the event, which highlight the significant value and decisive contribution made by all of them to the safe running of the event. As part of this collective recognition, the reports place special emphasis on the work of the Civil Guard, whose involvement throughout the four days of competition proved key to the rally’s operational success. This international recognition reinforces the prestige of the Las Palmas Command within the World Championship.

The organisers emphasise that the professionalism, foresight and meticulousness demonstrated by all personnel deployed have been a cornerstone in ensuring that the 50th anniversary of the Rally Islas Canarias – Rally of Spain has been conducted in accordance with the demanding operational and safety standards required by the World Championship.
