Nearly a hundred entered in the 46th edition of the Rally Islas Canarias

In addition to the winners of the first two events of the FIA ​​European Rally Championship, Rally Islas Canarias will have the leaders of the support categories of this contest, the main Canarian teams and the members of up to five trophies. In total, 99 teams have formalized their registration. The ERC Junior, which starts in Gran Canaria, has 15 entered.

The 46th edition of the Rally Islas Canarias, which will be held between May 12 and 14, will once again bring together the main teams from all over Europe. Among its nearly one hundred teams that have formalized their registration throughout the period that ended on Tuesday, April 26, are the winners of the events that have been held so far for the championships for which it is scored. Among the 99 registered there are 17 nationalities represented, 36 international teams, around a hundred within the ERC and 71 with FIA vehicles. Thus, in the continental section it will have Efrén Llarena-Sara Fernández (Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo) and Nil Solans-Marc Martí (Volkswagen Polo GTI R5), winners respectively of the Azores Rally and the Serras de Fafe e Felgueiras Rally and, in addition, second and third classified of the provisional FIA ERC that in the Canary Islands celebrates its third appointment and first on tarmac.

The Italians Alberto Battistolli-Simone Scattolin (Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo), fifth in the provisional standings, and Simone Campedelli-Tania Canton (Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo), who left such a good impression last year, will also compete. Also repeating in Gran Canaria are Yoann Bonato-Benjamin Boulloud (Citroën C3 Rally2) and Norbert Herczig-Igor Bacigál (Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo). In a year of great Spanish prominence, the winners of ERC2 last year, Javier Pardo-Adrián Pérez, will not be missing, although this time with Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo. Neither did the ERC Open leaders, Joan Vinyes-Jordi Mercader and his teammates Alberto Monarri-Carlos Cancela, both with the Suzuki Swift R4LLY S Rally2 Kit.

Likewise, the Rally Islas Canarias will feature the leading team of ERC3, the Poles Igor Widlak-Daniel Dymurski (Ford Fiesta Rally3) and of ERC4, the Italians Andrea Mabellini-Virginia Lenzi (Renault Clio Rally4), a very popular category at also have other contenders for the title such as the Argentinians Paulo Soria-Marcelo Der Ohannesian (Renault Clio Rally5) or the Spaniards from Rally Team Spain Óscar Palomo-Xavier Moreno (Peugeot 208 Rally4). Rally Islas Canarias also has the privilege this season of being the opening event of the most important and most promising category of the FIA ​​ERC: ERC Junior. Of the fifteen entered in this section, two teams, those of Óscar Palomo-Javier Moreno and Raúl Hernández-Rodrigo Sanjuán, are Spanish. Completing this international event, the FIA ​​RGT Cup competes for the first time in the Canary Islands, whose previous appointment was the Rally Montecarlo. The winners of that event and leaders Raphaël Astier-Frédéric Vauclare (Alpine A110 Rally GT) and his pursuers Emmanuel Guigou-Kévin Bronner (Alpine A110 Rally GT) will meet again on the roads of Gran Canaria. 

The Copa Suzuki Swift returns to the Archipelago thirteen years later with more than a dozen teams commanded by the leader –after his victory in the recent Rally do Cocido– Pablo Pazó. In the regional competition, Enrique Cruz-Yeray Mujica (Ford Fiesta Rally2) will not only be the favorites to win the Canary Tarmac Rallies Championship; they have also earned the condition of contenders for the absolute podium in the international aspect of the Rally Islas Canarias. His main rivals will be Luis Monzón-José Carlos Déniz (Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo) and Miguel Suárez-Eduardo González (Citroën C3 Rally2), as well as Benjamín Avella-Pedro Domínguez (Hyundai i20 R5). As expected, the contribution of teams from the new DISA Orvecame Rally Cup and the Clio Trophy Canarias is considerable to this list of entries. The 46th edition of the Rally Islas Canarias will be presented on May 3 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gran Canaria Arena.
