The 46 Rally Islas Canarias, ready for a week of emotions

The cars of the international teams have already landed on the island of Gran Canaria. The ship 'Marie Curie', by Fred. Olsen Express & Balearia, has been the focus of the first photographs of the fans who, like every year, attend this first contact with the vehicles.

The arrival in Gran Canaria of the cars that compete in the FIA ​​European Rally Championship (FIA ERC) is always an attraction that, edition after edition, attracts hundreds of fans. In 2022 it was not going to be less, an aperitif that gives way to a week full of intense emotions.

Fred. Olsen Express & Balearia 'Marie Curie' ship has connected the port of Huelva with that of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to bring in its warehouse the vehicles that will be protagonists in the 46 Rally Islas Canarias. The trucks decorated with the image of the teams have once again aroused the interest of the public who gathered in the middle of the afternoon this Sunday.

The action will not wait. Throughout Tuesday, the great candidates for victory, in absolute terms and in the rest of the categories, will be testing their vehicles in the surroundings of the municipality of Artenara on the occasion of the Tuesday Test, which will bring together the majority of international teams, but also national and local.

One day before, that is, this Monday, the HQ headquarters of the Rally Islas Canarias will open, this year installed in the Gran Canaria Arena. On Tuesday, starting at 12:00 AM, it will be the turn of the press room (Estadio de Gran Canaria), a day on which the recce documents will also be handed out in the afternoon (control card, GPS…).

On Wednesday, the teams will recognize the different stages of this edition, it will be mainly between 7:30 and 20:30, an intensive and key day for the great candidates to achieve the results that have been proposed. Although that day does not end there, since from 8:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., the participants will recognize the ‘Las Palmas de Gran Canaria – DISA’, stage that will open the event on Thursday night.

Recognition will continue on Thursday morning between 7:30 and 14:00. At the same time, the free practice prior to the qualifying stage, which this year will be held in San Mateo, will serve to get the engines roaring a few hours before the starting gun in the surroundings of the Gran Canaria Stadium and the Gran Canaria Arena, with the super special mentioned above.

And, from that moment, after the selection of starting positions, the autographs time and the previous press conference, it is the turn of the crono. The participants will have 13 special stages ahead of them, divided into three days, and nearly 200 km to fight for victory in the 46th Rally Islas Canarias
