The Rally Islas Canarias is getting closer and closer to the most eagerly-awaited moment – the start of the competition. The second round of the FIA European Rally Championship will officially kick off at 9:05 pm this Thursday 4th May, starting with the Super Special Stage 'Las Palmas de Gran Canaria'. More than eight thousand fans will be witnessing the city stage from the grandstand of the Gran Canaria Arena, from where they will be able to enjoy the donut which each of the participating teams will have to perform as they enter the stadium.

The agenda activity throughout this Wednesday has been taking place between the abrasive mountain roads and the facilities of the Gran Canaria Stadium. The teams already started the day with the recce at 7.30 am. They had until 8.30 pm to fill in their note books with all the details of the route that they will be facing this weekend. Meanwhile, in the head quarters of the event, also valid for the Spanish Rally Super-Championship, the initial scrutineering has been carried out.

The recce of the Super Special will be taking place tomorrow from 7 to 9 am and the teams will then have five more hours to go through the rest of the stages. The town San Mateo will be hosting the free practice and one Qualifying Stage from noon onwards, where the start order of the leg on Friday will be settled. The shakedown will take place after these two sessions reserved to the priority drivers. The following ceremony for the selection of the starting position and the autograph session will be held right afterwards in the podium area.
