Safety, a fundamental aspect for the success of the Rally Islas Canarias

To guarantee the correct development of the Gran Canaria event, the collaboration of the fans and all the people involved with the competition is essential. As a novelty for this year's edition, the roads along which the different special stages will run will not open between the first and second runs. Other important points, respect for the environment and the advice of the route marshals.

The big week of Canarian motorsport is already underway. The engines roar on the peaks of Gran Canaria with the different test sessions and the fans await the official start of hostilities, which will take place this Thursday with the 'Qualifying Stage' and the 'Las Palmas de Gran Canaria' super special. To guarantee the success of the weekend, the collaboration of each and every one of the spectators in terms of safety is required, a primary aspect in this type of event.

As a novelty for this 48 Rally Islas Canarias, the roads on which the special stages will run will not open between the first and second passes. They will be closed two hours before the departure of the first vehicle and will remain in that state until the conclusion of those second and final passes through them. In the case of the Free Practice, Qualifying Stage and Shakedown of 'Santa María de Guía', the road will remain closed to traffic from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., approximately.

The organizing entity of the event valid for the FIA European Rally Championship (ERC) has established different public areas from which fans can enjoy the action. They guarantee the safety of the spectator, as well as good visibility of the special stages and the competition vehicles. Likewise, there are several points designated as parking areas. All the information referring to these sites is detailed in the official magazine, published on the rally website: rallyislascanarias.com.

Caring for the environment is presented as another aspect of vital importance to ensure the sustainable development of the 48 Rally Islas Canarias. The island of Gran Canaria is characterized by its scenic beauty and its extensive biodiversity. Protecting these virtues is an issue that also concerns all people who plan to attend the stages. Collect and take away the garbage generated, do not camp in protected areas and do not light fires, three tips to keep in mind.

The route marshals who will work on the sections will also ensure the safety of all spectators, so they must listen to and respect all their instructions, as well as position themselves correctly one hour before the first participant leaves, and stand at a minimum height. 2.5 meters above the road, always at a minimum distance of 20 meters from the road and park in areas designated for this purpose.
