South of the island takes centre stage on Sunday

Agüimes - Santa Lucía, the famous Cardón threshing floor will be the special stage that will open the action on Sunday, 27 April. It is a double-pass and has 14.97 kilometres. It is placed as the fourteenth and seventeenth special stage of the Rally Islas Canarias - Rally of Spain. 

 

Through this release the organizing committee of the rally announces the spectators areas enabled, spectators parking, bus service and road closure times for this special stage.

Tuesday, 4 March 2025. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

 

On Sunday, the focus will shift to Agüimes-Santa Lucía and Maspalomas, which will also be two-passes, and the Costa Canaria show section, which will be held after the first pass. This special stage will be held entirely within the Gran Karting Club de Maspalomas, recovering a section where drivers such as Juha Kankkunen, Gilles Panizzi, Enrico Bertone and Gustavo Trelles have driven. 

 

Agüimes-Santa Lucía, the famous Era Del Cardón, will start before the Corralillos junction. It is a very fast and selective special stage where, in its central part, it goes into the Las Vallas section, with very narrow bends.

Timetable

 

From 30 minutes before the start of the Aguïmes - Santa Lucía section on the two runs, the road must be kept clear for the safety caravan to carry out its work. Compliance with this FIA rule is essential for the celebration of the timed section and is applicable to all the stages of the rally.

 

- Road closure time: Saturday 26th April (previous day) at 22.00 h. From this time onwards, the special stage will be closed to traffic for non-residents of the area. 

 

- Safety caravan time: vehicles belonging to the safety caravan will be circulating from 6:30 a.m. onwards, checking the set-up of the sections and verifying the correct location of the public.

 

- Time for the first participant to pass: 8:10 Canary Islands time. 

 

- Time for the first competitor to pass on his second run: 11:21 Canary Islands time.

 

These times may be subject to change at the discretion of the race director. 

 

RULES FOR THE LOCATION OF THE SPECTATORS (these rules apply to all the timed sections of the 49th Rally Islas Canarias).

 

1.- Only the areas marked with tape and yellow signs are suitable for the location of the spectators.

 

2 .- The areas marked with red tape and signage are prohibited for the location of spectators. 

 

3.- It is not allowed to walk on the stretch from 30 minutes before the start of the first participant.

 

4.- The FIA safety delegate, from the race direction, monitors live the location of the spectators on the special stage through the onboard cameras of the safety caravan and the participants. In the event that the safety rules are not being respected, the stage will be stopped, which could lead to its cancellation. We ask for the maximum cooperation of the public for a correct and safe development of the event.

Departure point and timetable of the bus service to the special Agüimes - Santa Lucía:

 

 

  • BP Cruce de Arinaga car park. The service starts at 3:00 am and finishes at 5:00 am. 30 minutes after the broom car has passed, the same unloading area for passengers before the start of the section will be used as a pick-up point to return to the car parks/shuttles. The return journey starts at 10:00 am. Price of the return ticket 10 € to the centre of Agüimes and 15 € to Los Cuchillos.

The rally organisers are providing spectators with a bus service to access the timed sections. In the next few days the link to the platform of the company Canaryshuttle, which will provide the service for booking tickets, will be published on the Rally website, as well as where and how to buy the tickets.
