Nearly 30 vehicles of the Rally2 category are already entered in the 47 Rally Islas Canarias


The event that will be held on the island of Gran Canaria from May 4 to 6 will close its entries period this Tuesday, April 18 at 8:00 p.m. Scoring for the FIA ​​European Rally Championship and the Supercampeonato de España, advances a participation of the highest quality.

 

With about 15 days left to fully enter the week of the 47 Rally Islas Canarias, interest is growing due to the imminent closure of registrations for the Gran Canaria event. That moment will arrive this same Tuesday, April 18 at 8:00 p.m., at which time the period to take part in this international event will end.

At the moment, and with close to 70 confirmed teams, around 30 will start with vehicles from the Rally2 category, a figure that may increase in the coming hours. To confirmed names, such as Hayden Paddon and Mads Ostberg, first and second in the 2023 FIA European Rally Championship, are joined by teams of the likes of Mikko Heikkila-Samu Vaaleri (Skoda Fabia), Finns who were about to win in the opening round of the season.

Yoann Bonato-Benjamin Boulloud, one of the most prominent in recent editions of the Rally Islas Canarias, repeats with a Citroën C3 Rally2, as do the current continental champions, Efrén Llarena and Sara Fernández (Skoda Fabia RS Rally2). Precisely, the French and the Spanish got on the podium in last season's edition. On the other hand, Andrea Nucita and Rudy Pollet (Hyundai i20 Rally2) will reinforce the Italian presence in this edition of the Rally Islas Canarias.

Javier Pardo-Adrián Pérez, runners-up in the FIA ​​ERC in 2022, will arrive in Gran Canaria as the new leaders of the Supercampeonato de España. They are already registered with their Hyundai i20 N Rally2, as are Surhayén Pernía-Alba Sánchez, Francisco López-Borja Odriozola and José Luis Peláez-Alberto Chamorro, all of them with the same machine.

The regional section also adds vehicles from the first category. Miguel Suárez-Eduardo González will arrive as leaders at the wheel of his Citroën C3 Rally2, with the Czechs Jan Cerny-Petr Cernohorsky aboard a Hyundai i20 N Rally2, second in the CCRA provisional, and Sergio Fuentes-Ariday Bonilla, with another Citroën , they will do it as third parties. The current champions, Enrique Cruz-Yeray Mujica, will repeat with his usual Ford Fiesta R5 MKII.

Continuing with the local section, Giovanni Fariña-David Rivero, Nelson Climent-Dailos González and Javier Cañada-Jonathan Hernández, among others, will animate the Rally4 section, while the one that groups Rally5 already has Zósimo Hernández-María Hernández, Noé Armas -Alejandro Falcón and Alejandro Concepción-Juan Monzón, among others.

Undoubtedly, a list of participants that can be increased from now until registration closes. The official list will be announced on Tuesday, April 25, the day in which this 47th edition of the Rally Islas Canarias will be officially presented. The event will take place at the Gran Canaria Arena at 1:00 p.m.

The Rally Islas Canarias is organized by Todo Sport and promoted by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria through its Insular Institute of Sports and Tourism of Gran Canaria, the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria through its Municipal Institute of Sports and the Department of Tourism, LPA Visit and the Government of the Canary Islands by Promotur Turismo de Canarias. Private companies like Fred. Olsen Express & Baleària, Grupo Recalvi, Hyundai Canarias, Avis Canarias, Lopesan, Sonocom and ServiTecni support the event.
